How to stop sinning

Dealing with Sin – We sometime try so hard to stop sinning but then we just mess up again. We feel bad. We feel condemned. And Satan just keeps shouting in our ear that we are failing God. So how can we clean up our lives and live for God in a non condemnation manner? How can we grow as Christians God’s way?

In Psam1 we find the clue. “Meditate on God’s Word day and night.” Holiness is not an absence of sin but pursuing God through His Word.

We can’t make fruits of holiness in our own strength. But we can grow fruits of holiness by growing our tree. And we grow as Christians by meditating on God’s Word. Romans 10 say that Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.

Make like a Tree

In Psalm 1 it says that we can be like trees.

Psa 1:1-4 GW  Blessed is the person who does not follow the advice of wicked people, take the path of sinners, or join the company of mockers.  (2)  Rather, he delights in the teachings of the LORD and reflects on his teachings day and night.  (3)  He is like a tree planted beside streams- a tree that produces fruit in season and whose leaves do not wither. He succeeds in everything he does.  (4)  Wicked people are not like that. Instead, they are like husks that the wind blows away.

It focus on two characteristics.

Fruit and leaves. When we grow mature in our walk with God we will grow the ability to feed other people the word of God. When people are spiritually hungry or starving we have the power to give them a word of encouragement. We can speak God’s word into their situation and expect God to manifest for them a solution.

The other characteristic is leaves. When we grow in our walk with God we will develop the ability to provide shade and protection for people. When the sun is beating down on you and you take cover under a big tree you will be refreshed. The sun won’t bother you because you are protected from its sting by the branches and the leaves on the branches. When we see someone that is beaten down by the problems in their lives we can offer shade to them. We can offer comfort to them.

In the bellow teaching we give you more insight on how to be a godly tree

Run to God when you sinned

Run To God – When we make mistakes and sin, we sometimes feel that we can’t go to God.

The bible is very clear on this – When we sin, RUN TO GOD. Never feel that God won’t accept you when you have made a mistake and have sinned.

1Jn 1:8-9 GW  If we say, "We aren't sinful" we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  (9)  God is faithful and reliable. If we confess our sins, he forgives them and cleanses us from everything we've done wrong.

In this teaching we give you a Biblical view and plan of what to do once you have sinned. But more importantly we also look at what you can do to stop sinning habitually. God loves you so don’t allow un-repented sin to steal your joy and peace.
