Discipleship - Be God to all people, everywhere

2Ti 2:1-2 GNB  As for you, my son, be strong through the grace that is ours in union with Christ Jesus.  (2)  Take the teachings that you heard me proclaim in the presence of many witnesses, and entrust them to reliable people, who will be able to teach others also.

Col 3:16 GNB  Christ's message in all its richness must live in your hearts. Teach and instruct one another with all wisdom. Sing psalms, hymns, and sacred songs; sing to God with thanksgiving in your hearts.

It is very clear from these bible verses that we are called to teach people the word of God.

Eph 5:1-2 WNT  Therefore be imitators of God, as His dear children.  (2)  And live and act lovingly, as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up to death on our behalf as an offering and sacrifice to God, yielding a fragrant odor.

Mat 28:18-20 MKJV  And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in earth.  (19)  Therefore go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  (20)  teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.

It is very clear from the Bible that we are called to disciple people. We are  called to imitate God here on planet earth. When people look at us they must see the love of God and His kindness to people.

Eph 6:19-20 MKJV  And pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,  (20) for which I am an ambassador in bonds; so that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

We are called to be ambassadors. We are send from heaven by God to this planet to reflex His love

Salt and Light

Mat 5:12-16 CEV  Be happy and excited! You will have a great reward in heaven. People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago.  (13)  You are like salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make food salty? All it is good for is to be thrown out and walked on.  (14)  You are like light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden,  (15)  and no one would light a lamp and put it under a clay pot. A lamp is placed on a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house.  (16)  Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.

The Bible is very clear that we must go into the world and be light and salt.

People are in darkness and their lives are flavorless. But we as Christians can make a difference in people's lives by being "good" Christians and doing good things for other people.

God created us to do good things

Mat 5:16 GNB  In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.

1Ti 6:17-19 MKJV  Charge the rich in this world that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, He offering to us richly all things to enjoy,  (18)  that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to share, to be generous,  (19)  laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

In the above verse we can see that God is not against us being rich. The purpose of us being rich is so that we can help other people. We are called to be generous.

Psa 37:3-6 GW  Trust the LORD, and do good things. Live in the land, and practice being faithful.  (4)  Be happy with the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.  (5)  Entrust your ways to the LORD. Trust him, and he will act on your behalf.  (6)  He will make your righteousness shine like a light, your just cause like the noonday sun.

From the above verse we can see the following five things
  1. If we trust in God it will always lead us to be salt and light and do good things
  2. Being faithful is a choice. It is something that can be practiced
  3. If we trust God he will act on our behalf - God will always have our back
  4. Trust God and your light will always shine VERY bright
  5. As long as you are happy in God and your identity is in your relationship with Jesus Christ your desire will NEVER be carnal. It will always be godly
In this series we answer the following questions
  1. What does it mean to be salt
  2. What does it mean to be light
  3. What is the covenant of salt
  4. What is the purpose of increase, bonus and promotions
