Why must I listen and submit to my Senior Pastor?

This is a question that so many Christians ask.

Why do I need to go to church? Why do I need to submit and listen weekly to a Pastor?

In the below passage we see an interesting fact.

Ephesians 4 says the following: “11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds (pastors) and teachers,12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood,to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”

God put the five-fold ministry in our lives so that we can be equipped for the work that God has for us.

Ephesians 2 says the following “10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them”
God has created us to do works and the what, where and how this will take place will manifest for you as you submit to your Senior Pastor and the teachings he gives you on a weekly basis.

Here are 5 reasons why it is so important to submit to your Senior Pastor
  1. They equip you for your ministry (Eph 4:11-16)
  2. They watch over you (Heb 13:17)
  3. They will show us a practical example of a godly live (1 Cor 11:1)
  4. They will pray for us every day (Col 1:9)
  5. They give us the opportunity to sow and reap by partnering with them (Gal 6:6-10)

What is Prophecy?

1 Cor 14 NIV says the following "1. Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. 4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the
church."

Prophecy is not speaking about future events. Prophecy is speaking to someone a word , by the prompting of the Holy Spirit, that will strengthen, encourage and comfort the person.

The above passage says the we must all  desire the gift of prophesy. This is not an option for the Christian. This is something that God requires us to do. We must have an intimate relationship with the people around us. We must be the light and salt in their lives. And we do this by speaking words that strengthen them; that will encourage them and that would comfort them.

As we develop our relationship with Jesus and we know how much He loves us, it will be easy for us to engage our community with the love of Jesus. Once we know that Jesus saved us from eternal damnation we will simply not keep silent about the love of God.

In the below message I explain what prophecy is and how to practically engage your community with the love of God.

What is a reasonable expectation?

Ever wondered what the difference is between a reasonable expectation, a hope and a knowing.

In the below message I explain the difference.

“Will God heal me?”, someone might ask.

As this person spends time with God by studying the Bible he will develop a reasonable expectation that God has all ready healed him as 1 Peter 2:24 states. “By Jesus stripes we are healed.”

As we spend time with someone we will get to know the person more and more. We will learn what the person likes and do not like. We will understand the person better because we are learning the person’s character. It is the same with God. As we spend time with God we are learning His character more and more.

This in turn creates a reasonable expectation for us with regards to the promises God has for us. Once we have a reasonable expectation we can attach our faith to it to pull the unseen promises of God so that it manifest for us.

A devil 24/7 365 days

I truly amazes me that so many Christians still plays around with their faith.

The bible says that there is a devil and this devil's one single
desire in life is to steal the Word of God out of of mouth.

We are in a battle because of out faith. The devil and his demons never sleep or ever take a brake. They are 24/7 365 days busy to try and form weapons against us (Isaiah 54:17).

We as Christians can not life by just hearing the Word of God on Sundays. We must life by faith. In the below teaching I discuss and teach how to do this practically

Active for God - Part 3 - Read and meditate on God's Word daily

Active for God - Meditate on God's Word everyday

We have to meditate on God's Word everyday.

This is the only way the we will have success in our lives. Without God's Word in us we can not fight the devil and win. To be active for God requires us to have faith as our fuel. Listen to our latest message on Active for God - Part 3. Download from the below link

The Bible Says:

Jos 1:6-8 MKJV  Be strong and of good courage. For you shall divide for an inheritance to this people, the land which I swore to their fathers, to give it to them.  (7)  Only be strong and very courageous so that you may be careful to do according to all the Law which My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may act wisely wherever you go.  (8)  This book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it by day and by night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall act wisely.

Psa 1:1-2 GNB  Happy are those who reject the advice of evil people, who do not follow the example of sinners or join those who have no use for God.  (2)  Instead, they find joy in obeying the Law of the LORD, and they study it day and night.

Psa 119:9 GNB  How can young people keep their lives pure? By obeying your commands.

As a Christian we must read and obey God. The only way to do it is by knowing His word. The only way to know God's word is to read and meditate it.
